This popular tour takes you to the most South - Western tip of Africa where the cold Benguela current of the Atlantic Ocean meets the warmer Agulus current of the Indian Ocean. The Cape Point Reserve is also home to various animals and birds and a chance encounter with the famous chacma baboons is one that will be remembered.
The day starts on our departure for the world-famous beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay where we drive along some of our most scenic coastline via the Twelve Apostles mountain range on our way to the fishing village of Hout Bay where in previous centuries, Elephants and Leopards were hunted in the magnificent natural forests that lent their name to this beautiful Bay.
The next stage of our journey along Chapman’s Peak Drive is truly breathtaking in its grandeur. Cut into the side of the mountain the 9km route with its 114 curves follows the rocky coastline to unfold stunning views in all directions before we descend into the village of Noordhoek where horses are often seen galloping along the 8km stretch of beach.
We pass through the fishing villages of Kommetjie and Scarborough before arriving at the Cape Point Nature Reserve. Here we spend some leisure time taking a ride in the vernacular to the lighthouse perched 248 meters above sea level before heading for the Cape of Good Hope to have our photo taken in front of the world-famous sign indicating our position on the continent of Africa.
Our return journey is via the African Penguin colony at Boulders Beach and through the Naval town of Simonstown to Fish Hoek and on to the quaint fishing village of Kalk Bay where we stop for lunch at HARBOUR HOUSE RESTAURANT perched on the edge of the ocean with amazing vistas.
After lunch we travel along the scenic Boyes Drive with amazing views over False Bay before we leave the coastline at the surfing village of Muizenberg heading inland towards Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens where we stop (time permitting) to enjoy a leisurely walk through the Botanical gardens before arriving back in Cape Town
We stop at various lookout points of interest along the way to take in the views and for photo opportunities, including an option at Cape Point to walk up to the lighthouse instead of taking the funicular
