F.A.Q.
1. Is shark cage diving safe?
VERY! There has never been an incident in South Africa where someone was attacked and injured whilst Shark Cage Diving. The Shark Cage Operators are extremely aware that their reputation is on the line. It only takes one incident for them all to suffer the consequences.
They all as a collective will decide if the weather conditions are too risky to go out and if this is the case they will cancel their bookings. They all have to adhere to safety regulations set by the South African Maritime Safety Authority, and DEAT, the Department of Environmental Affairs
2. Will I see a great white?
Most Likely! South Africa is world-renowned for “Shark Ally”
In Gans Bay, we find two islands situated 12 km offshore next to each other. Due to several geographical reasons – one being the shallow and narrow channel that runs between these two islands – Dyer Island has become known as one of only two unique areas in the world, where the chances to view the great white shark, rise exceptionally high.
The best time to see the Sharks is Winter (May-August ) because visibility is excellent in the water at that time
3. How long is the boat ride?
It is about a 20-minute boat ride to “Shark Ally“
Often Marine life such as Dolphins, Seals and even Whales are spotted on the journey to and from the Dive site
4. How much does the transfer cost?
.It is a Two and a Half Hour's self-drive from Cape Town or you can hop on the Shuttle for R900pp return
5. What time does it start?
The Dive Company will contact you the day before the dive to let you know when your dive is and the time the shuttle will collect you.
