Description
We visit the oldest established vineyard (Groot Constantia 1685) in South Africa to sample their wines and stroll through the old Manor house which is now a museum. It truly is a step back in time! We start the tasting with some champagne and end with their decadent dessert wine! Next up we visit Klein Constantia famous all over the world for their dessert wine (Napoleon asked for a glass of Vin De Constance on his death bed!) Originally part of the larger estate it is steeped in history and has world-renowned wines to sample.
Our third tasting is at Steenberg vineyard with great views of False Bay. A complete contrast to the other two vineyards Steenberg is a modern state-of-the-art winery that will take your breath away! Here we sample their wines and stop for lunch at the famous Bistro Sixteen82.
After lunch, we head over to Constantia Glen perched high on the upper reaches of the Constantiaberg. A boutique wine estate with sweeping panoramic views over False Bay. Here we sample their wines whilst soaking up the beautiful views of False Bay far below us. Our trip back to Cape Town takes us through the Constantia forests, where Elephants and leopards once roamed before we arrive in the city!
