If this is your first visit to the Cape, a Cape Peninsula Tour is not to be missed! Aptly referred to as the “Fairest Cape in all the World” this is a popular tour and can be combined with Table Mountain or the City Tour if you are limited on time.
This popular tour takes you to the most South Western tip of Africa where the cold Benguela current of the Atlantic Ocean meets the warmer Agulus current of the Indian Ocean. The Cape Point Reserve is also home to various animals and birds and a chance encounter with the famous chacma baboons is one that will be remembered.
The day starts on our departure for the world-famous beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay where we drive along some of our most scenic coastlines via the Twelve Apostles mountain range on our way to the fishing village of Hout Bay. Here we stop for an optional glass-bottomed boat ride to view Cape fur seals in their natural environment on Duiker Island.
Chapman’s Peak drive is truly breathtaking in its grandeur. Cut into the side of the mountain the 9km route with its 114 curves follows the rocky coastline to unfold stunning views in all directions, horses are often seen galloping along the 8km stretch of Longbeach.
Cape Point Nature reserve.
Here we spend some leisure time taking a ride in the vernacular [ optional ]to the lighthouse perched 248 meters above sea level with views for ever ! The Cape of Good Hope is where we have our photo taken in front of the world-famous sign indicating our position on the continent of Africa . .
Our return journey is via False Bay and we stop at Boulders beach to view the famous African Penguins in their natural habitat as they frolic in the water and waddle awkwardly onto the beaches!
Lunch is taken once we travel through the Naval town of Simonstown and onto the quaint fishing village of Kalk Bay . The restaurant is perched on the edge of the ocean where the seafood almost jumps onto your plate !
